Introducing the tenor sax gig bag

The Tom & Will 36 series tenor sax bag brings together the best features from our previous bags along with a handle, crossover single zip easy opening, heavy duty oversized Tom & Will zips throughout, high density padding, two lined pockets, padded crook pouch and our hideaway backpack and shoulder strap carrying system.

Additional features

Our 36 series woodwind bags feature the best quality high density padding that is available today. The interior linings we have selected are so soft and luxurious that you’ll want to get inside the case yourself!

The TWD crossover single zip opening has oversized heavy duty oversized Tom & Will double opening zips that are easy to use and durable.

Versatile hideaway backpack system

All our straps and handles are riveted as well as cross stitched with high tensile threads. We have invested considerable time and effort to make sure that our handles and straps are not just comfortable, but long lasting as well.

The hideaway backpack and shoulder strap carrying system is designed to fit all - you can hold it like a ruck sack over your back with easy tightening & loosening pull straps which can disappear out of sight by tucking them away inside the breathable back pad.

Suitable for most tenor sax models

The Tom & Will bag will protect just about any tenor sax from a Selmer classic, modern Yamaha custom and any budget student instrument besides.

The tenor sax bag also features colour coordinated side pads with and adjustable side pads for a really snug fit and especially helpful if running or riding a bicycle.

I was a little concerned taking my Yanigazawa out of the protection of its hard case but needs must as I really needed something lighter to carry. I shouldn't have worried as the sax fits sufficiently snugly to prevent much movement and the padding seems substantial. The best feature for me are the backpack straps which are so well designed, strong and comfortable it actually feels like a backpack rather than a gig bag. Only negative is the size of the neck and mouthpiece bags which are too small to close properly. This feels like a let down when the bag is so good. Also the main zip feels like it's on the bottom of the bag when it should be on the top when you lay it down but I expect I'll get used to it. Overall I'd definitely recommend it!

Summary: pros massively outweigh the cons and this is the best case I've seen, especially for the price. Pro: Lightweight, strong and compact case that offers decent protection. The backpack straps and padding for your back are superb. It's a proper backpack and as a result feels much lighter on your back than a case where backpack straps are an afterthought. The lining is really nice and soft, but with stiff foam underneath to protect the saxophone from impact and scratching Con: The neck pouch is not quite big enough for my Yamaha neck. Functionally it is fine because the exposed neck has no chance of hitting the bell, but the drawstring doesn't close over it fully. The mouthpiece pouch doesn't quite fit my Jody Jazz HR* in its plastic cover. The logo is a little cartoonish given how stylish the bag is otherwise. Observations: The main zip feels like it's on the wrong side. When you place the case down with backpack straps on the floor and the zip pocket at the top, the main zip is on the bottom of the case, not the top (contrary to every suitcase or backpack I've used). I guess this is because it's common to lay the case down and assemble the backpack straps, in which case this might actually be a pro.
